Itinerary

A day-by-day plan to guide your Nordic adventure.

  • Day 1: Arrival in Sweden & Welcome Dinner

After your arrival at Stockholm Arlanda Airport, make your way into Stockholm city centre. Many travellers opt to take the express train to Stockholm Central Station. Your accommodation will be located nearby. For a more direct and comfortable way to travel, we are happy to organise a private airport transfer for you.

If you arrive early in the day, we recommend spending the afternoon strolling through the city centre. You could go shopping on the well-known pedestrian street Drottninggatan and explore the surrounding area of Östermalm. Here you will find numerous shops, cafés, and restaurants for a perfect introduction to Scandinavian culture.

This evening, you will meet your group and tour leader at a welcome dinner.

Next, you will go on a guided walk through the medieval cobbled streets of the Old Town where you’ll also enjoy lunch with the group.

After lunch, you get the rest of the day to explore on your own. We recommend taking a short ferry ride to the charming island Djurgården. Here you’ll find some of Scandinavia’s most popular museums, including the Vasa Museum and Abba The Museum. You could also visit Skansen, the oldest open-air museum and zoo in Sweden. Other sightseeing options include joining a guided boat tour of the archipelago or visiting the Royal Palace. Tonight you will dine on your own in Stockholm.

Reviews

We don’t like to brag, so we’ll let our happy customers do it for us.

Outstanding experience

I've already recommended Nordic Visitor to others! Great people on the tour with us, an outstanding guide, quality accommodation, meals, and transportation. Our tour guide was outstanding. She was phenomenal, friendly, knowledgeable, and kept us on track in a very positive way.

Very pleased with the tour

We were pleased with the tour. The hotels were good, especially the one in Oslo and the one in the village at the end of the fjord (where the train stops). The tour leader was pleasant, accommodating, and very knowledgeable about Norway. He is still getting to know the other places we visited. I think you struck a good balance between organised activities and time alone. You are clearly a flexible, responsive organisation that wants the best for its visitors.

Fantastic customer service

Jemima, our travel consultant, was excellent in providing info and being in constant contact with us during our booking process. She handled any requests promptly and efficiently. As far as our tour guide, Janicke - our whole group loved her. She was super knowledgeable, attentive to detail, friendly, punctual, efficient, I could go on. She made sure we stayed together and enjoyed our tour without worrying about our next step. All of our connections (transfers) were on time, and there were many. She made sure we knew where to be and what to expect when we got off one mode of transportation to the next. Her overall knowledge of Scandinavia, especially Norway, was incredible. She could provide historical information as well as personal experiences all along our three-country journey.

Excellent tour

This was an excellent tour and was perfect for my needs.

Exceptional tour guide

Hotels were very nice and located well in the cities. Breakfasts were wonderful. Restaurants that were included in the tour were very good. Really enjoyed the variety of transportation. Our tour guide, Janicke, was exceptional! She was very knowledgeable and very attentive to the group's needs. She made us feel very comfortable and relaxed knowing she was in charge and looking out for us. We feel our tour was definitely planned out well with lots of variety, but a tour guide can make or break the best planned tours. Janicke was outstanding and definitely made this a superb tour!

Fantastic throughout!

I loved the Highlights of Scandinavia tour. Fantastic throughout, well-planned and organised, the welcome pack great and helpful. I'm booking Iceland with you next year now!

As an expert on the Scandinavian region, the tour leader is also a valuable resource for questions about local customs, languages, shopping, food and other practical travel information.

GUIDED SIGHTSEEING TOURS

For added comfort, your luggage will be picked up in Oslo and will be waiting for you in Bergen. Remember to pack an overnight bag for your night in Flåm.

To ensure comfortable seating for everyone on our tour, we need to limit the size and amount of luggage. Each guest is allowed one suitcase or large bag, and one smaller item (e.g., a small backpack or day bag) for daily essentials like camera, wallet, medications and so forth. If you have any questions about luggage, your Nordic Visitor travel consultant will be able to assist you.
