Idyllic village nestled between fjords and glaciers
Fjærland is a village at the end of the Fjærlandsfjorden, branching off Sognefjorden, the longest fjord in Norway. It is the Norwegian book town, with book shops located throughout the city, in interesting locales like pigpens and cow sheds in addition to traditional shops.
The village was only accessible via ferry until 1986 when the Fjærland Tunnel was opened connecting Fjærland to the village of Skei to the northwest.
