The Little Mermaid

Denmark's famous fairytale

Perhaps the best known landmark in Denmark is the statue of the Little Mermaid, inspired by the fairy tale of the same name written by Danish author Hans Christian Andersen in 1836. Unveiled in 1913, the statue can be found perched on a rock in the harbour off Langelinie promenade in Copenhagen, where she attracts thousands of visitors each year.
