Impressive wooden sculpture
The Dala horse is a popular Swedish handcraft that originated in the early 19th century, now commonly found in souvenir shops throughout Sweden. The name is derived from the province, Dalarna, where the small wooden horses are still individually carved and hand-painted using the traditional two-colour technique. Today, you can see the largest Dala horse in the world standing over 13 m (43 ft) tall in the town of Avesta.
