Halmstad is situated at the mouth of the Nissan river, in the province of Halland on the Swedish west coast. Located about midway between Gothenburg and Malmö, Halmstad is a popular vacation destination for Swedes and tourists alike. In the summer months, Halmstad´s sandy beaches are popular to visit, with the most famous beach being Tylösand, which can have as many as 40,000 guests on a sunny summer day.
The city also has a rich culture, with many galleries and museums, music venues and theaters.
