Sweden's countryside wonders
Blekinge is a province situated in the south of Sweden, bordering Småland, Scania and the Baltic Sea.
Blekinge became part of the kingdom of Denmark in the early 11th century and remained a Danish province for more than 600 years. With the provinces of Skåne and Halland, it makes up Skåneland. In 1658, it was ceded to Sweden according to the Treaty of Roskilde and has remained Swedish ever since.
Today, it is a popular area for tourism. There are fishing lakes, golf courses, craft shops, gardens, and galleries.
