Charming fjord village on the inner Aurlandsfjorden
Nestled in the innermost part of the Aurlandsfjord, the tiny village of Flåm (pop. 400) is a paradise for nature lovers with its steep mountainsides, roaring waterfalls and deep valleys.
Owing to its amazing scenery, Flåm has been a popular tourist destination since the 19th century. The village is a busy travel junction, serving as one of the endpoints of the famous Flåm Railway (Flåmsbana) and as a major highlight of the popular Norway in a Nutshell® journey between Oslo and Bergen.
Depending on the length of your visit, there are a number of attractions and activities to enjoy here, including the 17th century Flåm Church, the historic Fretheim Hotel, the Aegir Microbrewery and Restaurant and the Flåmsbana Museum next to the railway station. There are also many opportunities for hiking in the Flåm Valley and surrounding mountains.
