Spire of Copenhagen's skyline
The Church of Our Saviour is one of the most famous churches in Copenhagen for its helix spire and external winding staircase. Visitors who climb to the top are treated with exquisite views of the city.
The church is built in a Dutch baroque style and its basic layout is a Greek cross. Construction of the church did not start until 1682 and the church was inaugurated 14 years later in 1695. However, the altar and spire were built in 1732 and 1747, respectively.
The black and golden spire reaches a height of 90 metres and the external staircase turns four times counterclockwise around it.
